The Bellicose Blackbird of the Barbary Coast
For a few weeks last spring, Swoops the blackbird was a major avian celebrity in San Francisco. He was raising two babies in a small tree on Front Street and became famous for his constant attacks on people walking by. There was even a blog devoted to Swoops, the Attack Bird Chronicles, as well as a Twitter account. This picture appeared in the August, 2009 issue of San Francisco Magazine.
